"Abraham Lincoln War of 1861" Style ID Badge Worn By Henry J. Cogley 139th Pa. Infantry.Cogley enlisted on September 1, 1862 as a private. The ID has the original patina, and has great detail. There are some reddish brown stains, which is possibly his blood, according to a small museum tag that comes with the piece when it was displayed. Records show that at Chancellorsville he was severely wounded in the left leg on 5/3/63, had the leg amputated, and died on 6/17/63. This style of soldier's ID disc is pictured on page 58 in the reference source "Identification Discs of Union Soldiers in the Civil War". On the front side is Abraham Lincoln and on the other is stamped "Henry J. Cogley Co. B 139th PA. Vols. Rushville". Measures 30mm.
