    Edgar H. Sampson 1st U.S Calvary Silver ID Pin Found Near Gettysburg.
    Silver ID pin worn by Edgar H. Sampson of Co. E of the 1st U.S. Calvary. This pin was excavated near Emmitsburg Road, south of Gettysburg, and is in remarkable condition. The T-bar pin on the reverse is broken, but part of it remains. The front of the shield displays a beautiful patina, and reads "E. H. Sampson Co. E 1. U.S. Calvary". The 1st Regular Army Calvary began their fighting career in Williamsburg, Va. and fought at Upperville, Va., Gettysburg, Boonesboro, and participated in the largest Calvary battle fought on U. S. soil at Brandy Station, Pa. This pin was found more than 40 years ago on private land with the permission of the owner. A beautiful, and significant, ID pin. Measures 27mm x 29mm.
