Cased 19th Century U.S. Army Officers' Epaulettes. Fine quality 2¾" wide bullion tape boards. Brass crescents retain most of the original gilt with just a bit of age patina. Wide coiled bullion suspensions are the typical width and weight of the period. Underside of pads lacking lining, underside of boards lined with red morocco leather. Gilt brass attachment bars marked "Right" and "Left". Major's bullion leaf mounted to left epaulette but missing from the right. Epaulettes are housed in a japanned black case with a "Schuyler, Hartley, Graham & Co." maker's mark. The case retains approximately 30-40% of the japanned finish.
