    Description

Austrian Army Mountain Troops Officer's Kepi. This particular kepi was in use post WW2 when Austrian regained its independence. The cap is made from gray-green wool and features an Austrian national cockade on the front. The cockade is circled by a gold boss to indicate an officer's rank. On the left side is mounted a silvered-aluminum edelweiss insignia worn by mountain troops. The inside of the cap features a celluloid diamond with the name of the manufacturer, C. Kralka Uniformierung of Linz. The wearer's initials, FP, are attached to the sweatband. One small stain to the top of the kepi, otherwise in excellent condition.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
