    12th New York Infantry: Sgt. Walter Barker 5th Corps Silver I.D. Badge.
    Silver Maltese Cross engraved: "Co. A 12th N.Y.V." The hanger is inscribed "Sgt. W. S. Barker". The hinge and securing loop is still present, but the pin is missing. The cross is 23 mm square. Barker enlisted as a musician in the 12th N.Y. on May 13, 1861. He reenlisted as a corporal in the 3rd N.Y. Light Artillery on February 25, 1864 and served until July 7, 1865. The 12th was engaged at 1st Bull Run, The Seven Days, Antietam, Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville during Barker's term of service and was assigned to the 5th Corps beginning in May 1862, thus dating this badge. Lovely toning and patina. Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from The Horse Soldier. It does not include the photograph or military record referenced in the L.O.A.
