[Benjamin McCulloch]. "Sheriff's Sale" Broadside. One partially-printed page, 8.5" x 6.25", Sacramento County, California, October 14, 1850, advertising a public sale of property to be held later in November. Below the headline is the handwritten location of the property. The previous sheriff's name, Joseph McKinney, has been struck-through and McCulloch's name handwritten below.

After making a name for himself in Texas, the state Ranger Ben McCulloch left the state for California in September 1849. Shortly thereafter in 1850, the good citizens of Sacramento elected him sheriff. The corners of the broadside display lighter toning than the body of the document. Missing paper in the lower left corner, but there is no loss of text. Pin holes exist in all other corners.

Also included is a fair copy of a legal document dated January 1852 and signed "Ben McCulloch Sheff" twice by the clerk. Two pages, "Sac City." Folds.
