    Winchester Model 1895 Saddle Ring Carbine. Serial no. 87716, .30-03 caliber, 22-inch barrel with military sights graduated to 1800 yards. Left side of barrel at breech marked: NICKEL STEEL BARREL/ ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER/ 30 GOV'T'03. Barrel and receiver with WP proof marks. Receiver also marked .30/GOV./'03. Two line address patent marks. Smooth straight grip stock with grasping grooves on the forearm. Bottom of stock, behind lever stamped MSP. Consignor lived in Michigan. Saddle ring present. Curved steel buttplate with storage compartment. Condition: Very good as possibly refinished. Barrel retains approximately 65-75% finish, now a thinning plum brown patina with scattered patches of fine frosting. Receiver a thin brown patina with scattered scratches and staining. Nick to right side of receiver near hammer. Professional repair at wrist. Upper tang screw a replacement. Good bore with moderate wear. Manufactured 1915. From the Michael Yeck Collection.
