Winchester Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine. Serial No. 885678, .30 W.C.F. caliber, 20-inch round barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight. Blued finish. Top of receiver stamped with incorrect and spurious "US/[flaming bomb]." Straight walnut stock and fore-end. Carbine buttplate. Manufactured in 1921. While US-marked Model 1894 carbines are known, this example's serial number is outside of the range and was manufactured about two years later. Also the configuration of the US markings and the flaming bomb is not a match with the examples purchased for that US contract. Condition: Good. Retaining approximately 35-40% finish, mainly on the barrel, the receiver and cocking lever worn to a smooth grey finish. Action crisp. Stock and fore-end likely with a newer coat of varnish. Five "notches" carved on the underside of the butt. Bore bright.
