    Winchester Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine Owned by Texas Ranger Sid Kelso. Serial no. 1031413, .30 W.C.F. caliber, 20-inch barrel with Marbles front ramped bead and adjustable rear sights. Blued finish. Single barrel band. Saddle ring. Smooth walnut stock with crescent buttplate. Manufactured 1928. Sold together with two black and white albumen prints of Sid Kelso and his son firing what appears to be a similar Winchester carbine. Reverse of each with Austin Texas photo processor's stamp and dated 1934. Also included in the lot is a copy of Sid Kelso's enlistment papers dated January 13,1933. Along with this is a notarized statement from the consignor, identifying herself as Sid's daughter-in-law and having been present when he gave this carbine to her in 1979. Also included are numerous newspaper reprint accounts of Ranger Kelso's work involving gambling arrests as well as his investigation of a robbery and escape of Bonnie and Clyde. According to the consignor Sid Kelso was a 2nd generation Texas Ranger as his father served under Captain Dan Roberts in Company D Frontier Battalion c1874. Condition: Good to very good. Retaining approximately 25-35% original blue primarily on the barrel and magazine. The balance a thin gray patina. Scattered fine handling marks throughout. Stock is good with numerous dents. Gouges to right side of forearm and stock. Buttstock appears to have been cleaned and lightly worked along comb and at upper tang. Bore is fair to good with moderate wear.
