    Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle.

    Serial no. 5351, .40-32 caliber, 19-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight and rear elevation sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Crescent metal buttplate. Research and quotes with the help of Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms. Total production approximately 159,994 between 1886-1935. According to Flayderman's, Model 1886's feature vertical locking bolts, visible when viewing the gun from top or bottom. Manufactured in 1887. Please note, design on buttstock resembles a Freemasonry or Masonry design, square and compasses.
    Provenance: From the Estate of Shirley Temple Black.

    Condition: Good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with noticeable areas of poor handling wear, age and surface rust. Rear sight elevator absent. Screw absent to left side of fore-end. Heavy scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood. Remnant of a decorative A inlaid to left side of stock. Barrel appears to have been modified, cut down. Action good. Lightly pitted bore.
