    Very Scarce D. Nippes Maynard Tape Conversion of M1840 Musket. .69 caliber, 42" barrel, "US" and correct proof marks at breech. Marked on the tail of the lock "MILL / CREEK / PA / 1841. The crisp inspector's cartouches in the wood opposite the lock, complete, original and untouched in every respect. Correct markings on Maynard tape primer mechanism, "EDWARD MAYNARD / PATENTEE /1845". Wood with just a couple of small slivers along the ramrod channel and a few dents but really excellent with wonderful patina. All metal with dark smooth patina, just some minor pitting around the nipple. Two contracts of 1,000 each of these arms were delivered by Nippes, this being an exceptional untouched example.
