    U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1898 Krag Bolt Action Rifle Converted to .22 Caliber.
    Serial no. 263492. .22 caliber. 19-inch barrel with fixed blade front sight and Model 1896 rear sights. Barrel blued; receiver casehardened. Left side of receiver marked: "U.S. / MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 263492". Original walnut stock cut down to carbine length. Metal buttplate with trapdoor for cleaning rod. "JLA / 1902" inspector's cartouche on left side of the stock; circle "P" proof on the underside of the wrist.

    Condition: Very good as refinished. Barrel retaining approximately 90% new finish; traces of case color remain on the receiver, but its mostly achieved a smooth grey finish. Original stock cut down as noted. Stock with scattered surface scratches. Bright bore; mechanically sound.
