    Description

    Superb and Scarce Remington Dog's Head Rifle Cane.
    Serial no. 15, .32 RF, 31-inches length from collar. Gutta-percha handle and form. It has the long handle shaft and trigger button with concentric rings. Nickel-silver joint between dog's head and shaft. Barrel stopper included, possibly original to the cane. According to Flayderman's, approximately 2,000 of each caliber (22RF and 32RF) were manufactured. See 5E-074. Flayderman also notes that Remington advertised as "Just the thing for taxidermists [and]...protection against dogs and highway men".

    Provenance:
    Property of a Gentleman.

    Condition: Excellent for this model. Minimal wear and handling. Light discoloration areas to shaft. No cracks present or visible. Dog's head maintain great detail. Action is fine, bore appears excellent with light frosting.
