Description
U.S. Springfield Trapdoor Single Shot Rifle.Serial no. 480044, .45-70 caliber, 29 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight. Blued finish. Lock marked: (eagle) and U.S. / SPRINGFIELD. V / P / (eagle head) proofs to left side of barrel. Smooth hardwood straight stock with sling swivels, stacking swivel and two barrel bands (each stamped U). Metal ramrod and US carbine butt.
Condition: Good. Finish a bright and dark grey patina, with scattered signs of handling wear and patches of pitting. Heavy dings, scuffs and bruising present to wood. Action good. Strong bore.
