    U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Saddle Ring Carbine.
    Serial no. 137198, .45-70 caliber, 22-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear elevation sight. Blued finish. Left side of barrel marked: V / P / (eagle) / P proofs. Saddle ring. Receiver marked: (eagle) and U.S. / SPRINGFIELD. Smooth walnut straight stock. U.S. marked metal carbine butt.
    Provenance: National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. Sold to benefit the Museum's collections and acquisitions.

    Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a smooth grey patina, with scattered signs of handling wear and patches of pitting. Noticeable dings, scuffs and bruises to wood. Two spots of wood loss to left side of stock, near saddle ring. Action good. Strong bore.
