    U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Rifle. Serial no. 31718, .45-70 caliber, 32 5/8-inch round barrel with standard military sights. Blued finish with case-colored lock, breechblock and trigger guard. Lock marked [eagle]/U.S./SPRINGFIELD/1873. Breechblock marked MODEL/1873/[eaglehead]/[crossed arrows/1873]. Barrel with the usual proofs. Walnut stock with two barrel bands, two sling swivels, one stacking swivel and cleaning rod. Sold with a U.S. marked socket bayonet
    Condition: Very good. Barrel toned to a plum patina; case colored parts with scattered spotting and light surface pitting. No cartouches visible on stock. Stock with a few large bruises, dents and light scratches. Strong bore and action.
