    Description

    U.S. Springfield Model 1869 Trapdoor Rifle. Serial no. 27881 [receiver and barrel], .50-70 caliber, 32 1/2-inch barrel with fixed sights. Blued finish. Top of breech marked: 1869 / (eagle head) / U.S. Lock marked: with an (eagle), U.S. / SPRINGFIELD and dated 1863. Varnished walnut stock with two barrel bands and sling swivels. Left side of stock stamped 12. Right side of stock has a carved AWA. Carbine metal buttplate. Cleaning rod. Property from the Estate of John R. Eckel, Sr.

    Condition: Good. Finish primarily a mottled grey age patina with noticeable wear and pitting throughout. Wood showing very heavy scuffs, dings and bruising. Action good. Dark bore.
