    Description

    U.S. Springfield 1866 Trapdoor Rifle with Bayonet.
    NVSN, .50-70 caliber, 36-inch barrel with fixed front sight and folding rear sight. Blued finish. Lock dated 1864 and marked with: (eagle) and U.S. / SPRINGFIELD. Walnut one-piece stock with three barrel bands, two sling swivels and ramrod. US stamped metal buttplate. Sold along with US marked socket bayonet.

    Condition: Good. Finish primarily a dark grey age patina with noticeable surface rust. Wood showing scattered scuffs, dings and bruising. Heavy wood loss to either side of upper tang at wrist. Action functions. Wear and patches of pitting present to bayonet.
