    Shipped in 1876 to
    Draper & Hammond Cheyenne, Wyoming

Sharps Model 1874 Sporting Rifle Shipped to Wyoming 1876.
Serial no. 161048 (receiver and barrel), .45 caliber, 30-inch octagonal barrel with Bridgeport address, blade front and Lawrence-marked rear sights. Top barrel flat also marked: OLD RELIABLE and CAL. 45. Left side of frame with Sharps Rifle Co. patent marking. Oil-finished walnut stock with Schnabel fore-end. Smooth, curved steel buttplate. Weight approximately 12 1/2-lbs. Sold together with a copy of the factory letter signed by Dr. Moore which confirms current configuration and ship date of August 28, 1877 to "Sharps Western Dealer Draper & Hammond of Cheyenne, Wyoming."

Condition: Good to very good. Barrel a mostly smooth, mottled blue- brown thin patina with signs of having been cleaned. Scattered small patches of fine to moderate pitting. Receiver and lever with similar finish and showing traces of very muted case colors. Crack to upper tang. Stock is very good for a gun shipped to Wyoming. Some dryness and shrinkage but otherwise nice, well-preserved with raised grain still remaining. Action needs work. Hammer will not stay cocked. Very bright bore with wear but surprisingly no pitting making this a well-used, well-cared for plains rifle.
