    Description

    Rare W.M. Marston Breech-Loading Percussion Rifle.
    Serial no. 11, .54 caliber, 28-inch barrel with fixed front and rear sights. Blued finish. Scroll engraved receiver and hammer. Left side of receiver marked: W.M. MARSTON PATENTED 1850 NEW YORK and J. PERCY. Checkered maple straight birdseye stock. Ramrod. Crescent buttplate. According to Flayderman, estimated less than 300 produced. Sold together with a copy of a January 8, 1853 Scientific American article complete with period drawings of the guns and information about the Marston breech-loading technology.


    Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a brownish grey patina with scattered wear and pitting. Stock in excellent shape. Action crisp.
