    J. M. Marlin-Ballard No. 3 Gallery Falling Block Single Shot Rifle as Retailed by John Rigby.
    Serial no. 12809. .22 rimfire caliber. 24-inch heavy octagonal barrel with folding Beech front sight and a British-style standing rear sight marked: 25 and two folding 75 and 100 yard leaves. Barrel marked: John Rigby & Co., London and Dublin. Casehardened falling block action with a later reproduction adjustable folding tang sight. Tang sight mounted ahead of old mounting hole. Straight grip stock of slightly figured walnut. Hard rubber buttplate. Splinter fore-end of straight grain walnut. Data: London, Black Powder Proof.
    Condition: Very Good. Barrel shows 60-70% slightly frosted bluing. Fine bore with well-defined rifling with some heavy frosting and a few light pits. Action shows mottled finish on left side with a brown patina on balance. Stock shows 80-90% finish with numerous light marks and a deep five-inch crack. Buttplate is broken with top half missing. Fore-end shows 30-40% finish with numerous light marks.
