DescriptionEngraved W. Collath Double Barrel Rifle.
Serial no. 18092 [barrels and receiver], .36 caliber, 26 1/2-inch barrels with fixed front sight and rear elevation sight. Scope mounts. Blued finish. Top of barrels marked: WITTENER / EXCELSIOR. Elaborately scroll, floral and game scene engraved coin-finished receiver and tangs. Checkered walnut pistolgrip stock with cheekrest. Splinter fore-end. Sling swivels. Blue Line rubber recoil pad. Original brass museum inventory tag attached: J.M. DAVIS / 8409 / MEMORIAL.
Sold to Benefit The JM Davis Collection at the JM Davis Arms and Historical Museum.
Condition: Good. Retaining approximately 90-92% finish, with a few scattered thin spots, handling wear and patches of pitting. Noticeable crack to right side of stock at wrist. Heavy scuffs and dings to wood. Action good. Strong bores.
