    Description

    British Pattern 1853 Snider-Enfield Conversion Percussion Rifle and Socket Bayonet. NVSN, .577 caliber, 36 1/2-inch round barrel with fixed front and adjustable ladder rear sights. Lock marked: 1858 / ENFIELD. Behind hammer marked: [Crown] / V. R. Other British proofs present. Walnut stock with three barrel bands, two sling swivels, brass buttplate and ramrod. Sold with contemporary leather sling. Accompanied by an Austrian Model 1854 Lorenz musket socket bayonet.
    Condition: Very good. Metal surfaces with scattered dark rust spots and shallow pitting. Stock with scattered bruises , scratches and two longitudinal cracks at the butt. Mechanically sound. Bright bore. Bayonet with scattered pitting and surface rust, lacking sheath, otherwise in very good condition.
