Shipped to Frank Conrad, Ft. Griffin 1877.

Sharps Model 1874 Heavy Sporting Rifle with Factory Letter.
Serial no. 160120 (receiver, barrel buttplate), .45 caliber (2 7/8), 30-inch octagonal barrel with Bridgeport address, blade front and unmarked Lawrence high notch rear sights and stamped: OLD RELIABLE. Top barrel flat at breech marked: CAL. 45. Right barrel flat marked: 2 7/8. Bottom barrel flat with: 4/11/16. Left side of frame with Sharps Rifle Co. patent marking. Double triggers. Oil-finished walnut stock. Plain walnut fore-end. Standard shotgun buttplate. Weight approximately 16.5 lbs.

Accompanied by a Sharps Factory letter by Dr. Labowskie documenting the shipping to Conrad on September 5, 1877. The letter also confirms current configuration.

Condition: Very good. Barrel with a mostly smooth brown age patina with scattered spotting. Breech and lock plate nicely silvered with a smooth age patina, slightly mottled. Stock is very good as possibly period repaired. Scattered dents and small gouges. Crack to right side of wrist. Left side of buttstock with an interesting dip either from saddle wear or a sanded out injury to the wood. Near this is an oval repair area that seems to be expertly filled. The stock looks good and has the feel of original raised grain in most areas. More recently applied varnish. Some shrinkage at heel. Lower tang slightly proud to the wood. Fore-end with losses to right side. Bright bore showing some wear and fine pitting. Action excellent.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
