    Scarce Winchester First Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle. Serial no. 14574, .44-40 caliber, 28-inch octagonal barrel with Rocky Mountain front sight and sporting elevation rear sight. Thumbprint dust cover with cross-hatched thumbprint oval. Nickel-plated receiver. Case-hardened hammer. Tang-mounted aftermarket flip-up Lyman peep sight. Adjustable trigger. Checkered deluxe burl walnut stock and fore-end. Cleaning rod reservoir in butt, containing sectional cleaning rod.

    Condition: Good. Barrel showing dark age patina and scattered light pitting. Receiver retaining approximately 30-40% finish mixed with brown patina with flaking and pitting present. Hammer retaining traces of silvered case-hardening. Lever and buttplate with dark patina, wear and pitting. Wood with period wear and bruises. Action good. Bore pitted and dark.
