    Description

    Smith Breechloading Saddle Ring Civil War Carbine. Serial no. 10340, .50 caliber, 21 1/2-inch part round barrel with front and rear folding sight. Blued finish with case-hardened breech and hammer. Iron mountings. Left side of frame marked: Smith's Patent and Address / POULTNEY & TRIMBLE / BALTIMORE USA. Barrel on left side marked: L.F.R. No cartouche marks present on wood. Condition: Good. Retaining approximately 75-80% finish on barrel. 20-25% case-hardened finish remaining on breech and hammer. Moderate to heavy pitting on lower tang, frame, mountings, triggerguard and buttplate. Fore-end appears original and in good condition, buttstock appears to be a replacement and in fair condition with a few stress cracks. Some replaced screws. Action good. Bore is very good.
