    Joslyn Model 1862 Single-Shot Saddle Ring Carbine Converted to Model 1864 Specifications.
    Serial no. 4897. .54 rimfire caliber. 22-inch round barrel with fixed front sight and twin leaf rear sights. Iron mount, case hardened lock and hammer. Lock marked "JOSLYN FIRE ARMS CO / STONINGTON / CONN". Back of breech marked: "B.F. JOSLYN'S PATENT / OCTOBER 8TH 1861 / JUNE 24TH 1862". Straight walnut stock with single barrel band and curved metal buttplate (marked "US" on the upper tang). Bar and saddle ring mounted to the left side of the stock. Faint inspector's cartouches on the left side of stock near breech.

    Condition: Very good. Barrel with an overall smooth brown patina with traces of case color on the lock and breech. Stock has been lightly sanded and exhibits a few shallow surface scratches and dents. Hairline crack in the fore-end tip. Bore a bit dark but the rifling remains distinct. Excellent mechanical condition.
