Fine Confederate Marked/Imported Enfield .577 Caliber Percussion Rifled Musket, 'In the black' totally untouched condition. Metal with overall attractive smooth dark patina with just some very light, really negligible, pitting in the hammer/bolster area. Crisp markings, "Tower 1862' with appropriate barrel proofs, very good bore, and crisp tight action. Brass furniture also with pleasing untouched patina. The gun is complete and original in every respect including rear sight, nipple protector and ramrod. Stock also excellent showing signs of honest use with some dents/scratches but very sharp with nice rich patina. The stock bears the stamped mark "(crown) / SH / C" behind the rear trigger guard tang. the stock also bears the mark of a crown with some illegible figures and the mark of W. & C. Scott in an oval on the right side of the buttstock. There were originally some additional marks in the stock opposite the lock but they were, for reasons unknown intentionally obliterated, clearly during the period of use. An exceptionally nice Civil War Enfield with doubtless Confederate use.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
