Description

    17th Century German Paddle Butt Wheelock Carbine with Associated Spanner and Flask. .62 caliber, 24 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with Suhl proofmarks. Smooth steel gray finish with lightly selected scroll engraving. Wheelock mechanism with exposed wheel and side mounted bridle. Light colored fruit wood Fullstock with early paddle butt form. Iron mounts. Spring type trigger. Overall length is 38-inches. Together with associated Spanner and Flask. The Spanner has the 17th century Dutch/German feel, probably a bit later. Finely sculpted with engraved line decorations. Measurements: 3 1/2-inches by 4 1/2-inches. The Flask, also has 17th characteristics with a German military flair. Tapered and slightly curved flat-sided wooden body with steel mounts throughout. Overall length:12 5/8-inches.

    Condition: Good to very good as configured and heavily cleaned. Overall smooth steel surface. Ramrod appears to be a replacement. Various dings and scratches to wood and finish. Left side of stock with crack. Light scattered pitting mostly to mounts. Stock has been reconditioned. Spanner has been heavily cleaned and reconditioned. Flask has heavy age wear and cracks to both sides of wood. Pitting throughout and discoloration. Tip missing from upper cut off. Flask is a bit loose, needs some adjusting and restoration.
