    Whitney Model 1841 U.S. Percussion Rifle.
    Unserialized, .65 caliber smoothbore, 33-inch round barrel with brass blade front sight and fixed notch rear sight. Browned finish with casehardened lock plate and brass trigger guard. Lock marked: "N. HAVEN / 1852" and "E. WHITNEY / US". Barrel tang dated "1852". Top of barrel near breech marked: "US / JH / P". Left side of barrel also marked: "STEEL B" in large script (owner's name perhaps). Oiled walnut straight stock with brass barrel bands, patchbox and buttplate. Complete with brass-tipped ramrod. Faint inspector's cartouches on the left side of the stock.

    Condition: Very good. Retaining a smooth brown patina on the barrel and with traces of case color on the lock. Stock exhibits a few shallow dents and light surface scratches. Bore with light surface rust. Mechanically sound.
