    U.S. Whitneyville Navy Model 1861 Percussion Rifle. Serial no. 1793, .69 caliber, 34-inch barrel finished bright. Side-mount bayonet rail at muzzle. Ladder rear sight calibrated to 1,000 yards. First style lock plate with eagle-flag motif ahead of hammer and marked: U.S./WHITNEY-VILLE. Back of lock marked 1863. Inspector's initial W marked at breech. Triggerguard with spur finger grip. Steel buttplate marked U.S. Black walnut stock with F.W. inspector's initial on left side. Two barrel bands with sling swivels, band release is absent on barrel band closest to receiver. Steel ramrod with cylindrically shaped tip pierced with small hole. Condition: Good to very good. Bright steel now a smooth, mottled gray-brown patina. Stock is fine with moderate dents and gouges. Bright strong bore.
