    U.S. Springfield Model 1879 Trapdoor Rifle. Serial no. 191613, 45-70, 32 5/8-inch barrel with standard military sights. Blued finish with walnut stock. Lockplate marked: [eagle] / U.S. Springfield. Breech is marked: U.S. / Model / 1873. Barrel with proofs, cartouches present on left side and near lower tang. Dual sling swivels. Together with leather military sling and US marked triangular bayonet with leather frog US marked. Condition: Good to very good. Traces of blued finish on barrel with balance turning a brown patina. Stock ok with dings, scratches and light mold build up. Barrel bands and triggerguard with losses. Buttplate with moderate to heavy pitting. Bayonet in good condition with most of bluing, scabbard with fine scratches and rust. Leather frog with some cracking.
