    U.S. Springfield Model 1863 Percussion Musket. No visible serial number, .58 caliber, 34 1/4-inch round barrel. Lock dated 1864 and Springfield mark visible under the pitting. Two barrel bands extant. Walnut stock.
    Condition: Poor. Barrel has been cut down with a bead front sight added and the rear sight lacking. Front barrel band and loading rod lacking. All metal surfaces with moderate to heavy pitting. Stock has been replaced and is uniformly chipped, bruised with small sections at the butt, breech and fore-end lacking. The action is strong though the trigger is somewhat loose.
