    Description

    U.S. N.P. Ames Jenks Side-Hammer Breech-Loading Percussion Carbine.
    NVSN. .54 caliber. 24 ¼-inch round barrel with bead front sight. Barrel browned, brass trigger guard, lock plate and breech lever casehardened. Lock plate marked: "Wm JENKS" and "N.P. AMES / SPRINGFIELD / MASS". Top of barrel near breech marked: "USN / RC / P / 184?". Straight walnut stock with brass buttplate.

    Condition: Poor. Relic condition lacking aperture cover. Stock shortened and two ramrod ferrules have been added. Sidehammer mechanism still functions. A nice project rifle.
