US Model 1795, Type III, .69 Caliber Smoothbore Flintlock Musket, Springfield, 1811. All metal generally smooth and gray with some light pitting in the breech area and and some other scattered areas, eg. side plate, butt plate. Excellent markings, with lock bearing eagle, Springfield, and 1811 at tail. The butt plate is also dated 1811 and barrel with all appropriate proofs at breech. The gun remains in its original flintlock configuration and is overall untouched. Wood really excellent, crisp and sharp with deep rich patina and no cracks, splits or breaks. Excellent inspector's marks including "CP" indicating the gun was at some point taken possession of by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The gun is complete and original in every respect and really an an exceptional example of this early American flintlock musket that doubtless saw use in the War of 1812.
