    U.S. Massachusetts Contract Percussion Rifle.

    Serial no. 2892, .58 caliber, 39-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear folding sight. Lock marked: 1863, (eagle) and U.S. / M. V / P and 1864 stamped to top of barrel. Smooth walnut straight stock with three barrel bands, sling swivels and leather shoulder sling. Metal ramrod and U.S. marked carbine buttplate.

    Condition: Very good. Finish a smooth grey patina with scattered signs of handling wear, age and patches of pitting. Noticeable scratches and scuffs present to wood. Action crisp. Moderately pitted bore.
