    U.S. Harper's Ferry Flintlock Musket. .69 caliber, 42-inch round, polished steel barrel with brass blade front sight. Bayonet lug near muzzle. Two barrel bands. Two sling swivels. Breech with VP[eagle head] proof marks and 1835 on upper tang. Brass flash pan above federal eagle. Rear of lock marked: HARPER'S / FERRY / 1833. Fine hardwood stock. Curved steel buttplate marked: US and with inspector's initial O on buttplate screw and lower tang screw. Also observed on barrel bands. Steel ramrod.

    Condition: Fine. Steel remains bright with scattered small patches of fine pitting. Stock is fine. Possibly revarnished but retaining the rich lustre of the original wood. Small loss behind hammer, near breech. Three short hairline cracks at the butt. Buttplate slightly proud to the wood. Action is crisp.
