Southeastern Pennsylvania, likely Berks County, Original Flintlock Circa-1825 Full Stock Rifle. 41" full octagon .50 caliber barrel, 15/16" across the flats. Barrel with smooth dark patina with just some light pitting in the touch hole area. The barrel is unmarked. Fine maple stock with nice curl that appears to be artificially applied, with two missing splinters on the top edge of the forestock and a couple of other forestock hairlines. Nicely molded cheek piece. Very sound and the minor splinters easily restored. All brass furniture is un-engraved with four piece patch box of a form often used in the Berks County area. An old paper label inside the patchbox identifies the gun as an "unsigned Frederick Sell" although that is definitely not the case. Small brass lock bolt plates with one in the shape of an acorn. The gun remains in its original flintlock configuration, the lock nicely engraved and marked "J. Holland". Retains what appears to be the original ramrod. A very attractive original flintlock Pennsylvania rifle from a desirable school and in fine condition.
