    Remington Hepburn No. 3 Sporting and Target Rifle. Serial no. 5841, .38 caliber ( marked 38.1 3/4 under barrel), 28-inch octagonal barrel with German silver front sight and open sporting rear sight. Blued finish with case-hardened action. Top of barrel marked: E. Remington & Sons, Ilion, NY. Right side of action marked: Hepburn's Pat. / Oct. 7th, 1879. Walnut pistolgrip checkered stock and plain fore-end with cap.

    Condition: Very good.
    Retaining approximately 40-50% blued finish on barrel with a plum brown balance and 25-30% case-hardening on action with the balance turning a mellow gray patina with light scattered pitting. Moderate scuffs, wear and scratches to stocks. Action good. Excellent bore.
