    Description

    Percussion .58 Caliber U.S. Model 1863 Remington Contract or "Zouave" Rifle. 33" round barrel with seven groove rifling. The gun retains 100% of the original blue and case colors, perfect bore. Two brass bands secure the barrel to the walnut stock. The lock is dated 1863 behind the hammer, with a spread wing eagle over "U. S." forward of the hammer and "REMINGTON / ILION, N. Y." forward of the eagle. Two blade sight, correct proofmarks and crisp inspector's cartouches in the wood. Brass with nice mellow untouched patina and the patch box contains the ramrod worm and extra nipple. Wood with just a few typical minor dents and storage nicks else perfect. Accompanied by the original mint condition brass handled saber bayonet and scabbard.
