Most Unusual C. 1835 European Pill Lock .31 Caliber Rifle. 36 1/4" overall with a 20 5/16" .31 caliber rifled octagonal barrel. Functioning set triggers, finely executed scroll engraving on the back action lock, with commensurate engraving on the iron furniture. Walnut half stock with checkered wrist, decorative flared forestock tip and cheekpiece. Wood overall generally excellent, however, a 2 3/4" X 4 3/4" wooden piece was, for some reason, inlaid and smoothed/blended on the right side of the butt, clearly period but not indigenous. Overall excellent condition, the metal with dark smooth patina and mechanically fine including the delicate pill lock mechanism. Complete with the original iron ramrod. Nice example of this very scarce ignition system, originally patented in 1805, but because of its delicacy, very short lived.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
