Full Stock Percussion Pennsylvania Rifle Signed "J. Stapleton" C. 1860 Stapleton was one of the finer makers in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania and this is an excellent example of his work. .36 caliber, 37" full octagonal barrel marked "J. Stapleton" in small capital letters on the top flat of the barrel. Lock marked G. Goulcher in riband. Brass mounted with oval 'toilet seat' cap/patchbox that is nicely engraved. Magnificent German silver wear plate with acorn finials and extensive engraving, among the finest we've seen on a rifle from any school. Plain single screw side plate secured with two wood screws with single screw lock. Notched rear sight, with dovetailed blade front sight, two screw barrel tang. Fine walnut stock with artificial tiger grain. Really excellent overall condition, just showing some minor honest wear to the finish. Barrel with dark smooth patina and excellent bore. A very nice Huntingdon County rifle in wonderful condition, featuring a really remarkable wear plate.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
