    French Model 1778 Charleville Musket. 69 caliber. 40½" round barrel with full walnut stock, three barrel bands and two sling swivels. French proof marks on various components including date "V1837" stamped on the breech tang. Brass front blade sight integral with upper barrel band. Cleaning rod. The metal surfaces are covered in a uniform layer of rust. The top jaw is lacking and jaw screw broken. The action is crisp and strong. Stock broken at the wrist with evidence of a poor repair. Still, a good candidate for restoration and with the exception of the upper jaw, complete.
