Tang also very nicely scroll engraved. Barrel overall with smooth dark patina, brass blade front sight on dovetailed base, v notch rear sight. Very nicely figured curly maple stock with nice patina with just a couple of minor hairlines and a nicely replaced 2 1/2" piece at the front ramrod pipe also a few minor chips. Exquisitely engraved horse head finial patchbox of unusual configuration, with lid inset in a single brass piece with a piercing below the horse head. Perfect condition. The patchbox delicately engraved with a pea fowl. 4 1/2" engraved brass toe plate. The wrist exhibits a wonderful period repair with beautifully scroll engraved brass plates affixed to each side with a total of 14 screws. The nicely engraved brass trigger guard also has an old repair on the front extension, minor. The elaborate barrel key escutcheons are of cut sheet silver, and match the silver inlay on the cheek piece. This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
