    American Percussion .41 Caliber Full Stock Rifle Made by African American Ohio Gunsmith Meshach Moxley. 51 3/4" overall with a 36" .41 caliber smooth dark octagon barrel with strong bore, dovetailed brass front sight and dovetailed iron rear sight, signed "M. Moxley" on top flat. Brass mounted strong curly maple stock with minor dents and scratches, missing 2 barrel pins. Slightly pitted lock is marked "R.W. Booth Cincinnati", non functioning adjustable double set triggers, brass cup shield at nipple. Complete with original hickory ramrod. Meshach " Mose" Moxley was a fugitive slave who made his way to Pickrelltown Ohio where he was befriended by Obadiah Williams who traveled south to purchase Moxley's wife and children. The reunited family then moved to Bellefontaine Ohio where Moxley established a gun shop.
