    A Japanese Matchlock (Tanegashima) from Sakai.

    Approximately .50 caliber, 39 1/2-inch barrel. Slender barrel, with inlays. The figured stock with numerous engraved brass inlays overall including a 22-inch pattern underneath all the way through the triggerguard area. The Sakai helmet adorns the breech-band area. Inlays a bit dark on barrel, hard to decipher.

    Condition: Overall condition is very good with storage and handling wear. Some separations and tarnish to brass inlays. Walnut stock in good condition, a few bumps and mars overall. Some areas cleaned and buffed. A few significant scuffs to left side of stock. Bore good. Action, soft but good.
