    Description

    Mid-19th Century European Percussion Saddle Ring Carbine. Approximately .64 caliber, 21-inch round barrel. Block and blade front sight. Unmarked flip up rear sight. Knurled hammer and unmarked lock. Inside of hammer stamped: 108. Steel saddle ring present. Smooth, slightly figured hardwood stock with swivel ram rod, two barrel bands and brass furniture including brass patch box. Serpentine brass triggerguard. Stock marked: 212 forward of patch box. Left side of butt stock marked: R/253. Brass buttplate with indecipherable characters.

    Condition: Very good. Steel with a very smooth, gray-brown patina with scattered patches of fine pitting. Swivel fastener loose. Stock with hairline cracks and old repairs near saddle ring and at the wrist. Nipple a possible replacement. Action functions. Pitted bore.
