    Marlin Model 1889 Leaver Action Rifle and Pocket Watch Inscribed To Texas Ranger J.R.H.

    Serial no. 43113, .38 caliber, 24 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear elevation sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Left side of receiver engraved: TEXAS / J.R.H. / RANGERS. [J.R.H.] for John R. Hughes according to consignor. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Crescent metal buttplate. Manufactured in 1890. Sold along with his American Watch Co. pocket watch with silver chain. Back of watch engraved: TEXAS / T / S - JRH - E / A X / RANGERS inside of two feathers. According to consignor notes, this gun was exhibited at the Hubbard Museum of the West.

    Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a smooth grey patina with scattered signs of handling wear and patches of pitting. Dings and scuffs present to wood. Action good. Lightly pitted bore. Watch movement not working.
