Winchester Second Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle. Serial no. 246229, .44 W.C.F. caliber, 24-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight and rear elevation sight. Blued finish. Nickel-plated receiver. Varnished walnut stock and fore-end. Aftermarket crescent buttplate. Manufactured in 1887.
Condition: Fair. Finish primarily a grey age patina with scattered wear and patches of pitting. Nickel-plated frame showing flaking, staining and pitting. Scratches, scuffs and dings to wood. Elevation ramp absent from rear sight. Some marring to screws. Dust cover absent. Excessive heat marking to buttplate. Action is good. Moderately pitted bore.
