Hawaiian Mounted Police.

Winchester Model 1886 Saddle Ring Carbine issued to Hawaii Mounted Police Member, Robert Grieve.
Serial no. 78387, .45-70 caliber, 22-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear ladder sight. Blued finish. Saddle ring. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. HMP and 10 stamped to each side of stock. Metal carbine butt. Manufactured in 1893. According to Cody records, shipped from warehouse on June 7, 1893, order number 19464. Also, records show this gun is listed as a Rifle.

Note: According to HWP records, this gun was issued to Robert Grieve. Robert was a Book and Job Printer in Honolulu in 1895. Also, Member of Squad 7 of the Citizen's Guard, Serving under Sgt. WH Hoogs; FB McStocker, Captain Commanding. Listed on roster in book THE REBELLION of 1895.
Provenance: John Bell, noted Hawaiian historian.

Condition: Good. Finish primarily a smooth grey age patina with noticeable wear and pitting. Heavy scuffs and dings to wood. Action crisp. Strong bore.
